THE REQUIREMENT

Choose an on-line article that has some substantial meaning for you and set it as two, two page spreads. You are designing two connected things: a new typographic system and grid design for the article. One spread will be highly graphical, the second will be strongly typographical

THE RESPONSE

Based on key sentences pulled from the original text, I created two layouts per the specs of graphics and typographics. The composition exhibits balance, unity and variety, emphasis and contrast, harmony, pattern and movement. This was done by combining typeface(s) and type treatments with white space that, together, co-create lines, shapes, forms, colour / value, texture, and space.

It was difficult to create graphics derived from sentences in the original text.
