THE REQUIREMENT

Your class presentation should take no more than 30 minutes of class time. It should cover your historical personality, and show how what main issue or problem was your author trying to address, and what social or intellectual conventions did your author appeal to. Keep in mind that your main task is to inform the class about your topic.

THE RESPONSE

I knew I had to tackle a large volume of information, and explain it in a way that was not merely a dull list of events. I memorized all of the key events and was able to show a clear map and speak to each of the main points simply. This meant glossing over a lot of detailed information, and choosing specifically what to discuss. Having a clear map visual was key to the success of this presentation and I was surprised how much I was able to rely on it to support my teaching.

WAR & PEACE ?

I practiced this presentation over and over again, and although I was happy with how it went down, I know I still did not deliver some lines as well as I could have.
